The Morel Company


The Morel Company® was founded in 2011 by Bill Hillenbrand to help solve the longstanding and difficult challenges relating to patient repositioning. Every day, caregivers struggle to pull patients up in bed, while putting their bodies at risk for injury. This wasteful and unnecessary care activity causes an uncomfortable, unsafe, and often embarrassing experience for the patient. For hospital administration, traditional repositioning causes lost workdays, caregiver inefficiencies, and potentially negative patient experiences. To address these issues, The Morel Company® developed The Hercules Patient Repositioner™.

The Director of Marketing has the opportunity to dramatically impact Morel’s commercial success and will be responsible for leading the marketing function at Morel, including upstream and downstream marketing of The Hercules Patient Repositioner and all future products. The DOM will be highly connected with executive leadership, sales, operations and finance.


  • Develop both strategic and day-to-day marketing strategies, programs and support materials to drive revenue growth 
  • Lead the efforts in branding for The Hercules Patient Repositioner
  • Build and implement a social media marketing strategy focused on existing and future social media channels to create awareness and drive branding and revenue growth
  • Generate, edit, publish and share frequent content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages members to take action
  • Update and maintain Morel website to ensure messages are clear, effective and relevant
  • Create effective marketing and sales materials for The Hercules Patient Repositioner
  • Lead all efforts associated with local and national trade conventions, including booth exhibits, messaging and materials
  • Lead the flawless launch of new products, including positioning, messaging, tactics and training 
  • Work with sales to understand and identify opportunities to improve the sales process
  • Develop and execute on marketing strategies, including promotional, clinical marketing and other associated items
  • Conduct customer-focused market research to identify company growth opportunities 
  • Provide marketing leadership to new product development programs 


The Director of Marketing must have the following qualifications. Preferably, these qualifications have been cultivated through a substantial, diverse and successful marketing career, focusing on solutions-based programs, coupled with traditional medical device experience.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience 
  • Track record of accelerating the profitable growth of new products 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing (MBA or Masters in Marketing strongly preferred) 
  • Ability to travel from 20% to 50% of business days and be able to work weekends for medical conferences as required
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare industry, including economics and reimbursement, health systems, distribution channels and the dynamics of multi-decision-maker hospital buying processes 
  • Overall business acumen that extends beyond marketing tactics to an understanding of how value is created in an organization 
  • Resourcefulness, including the ability to be nimble and effective with prudent budgets 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the selling process and how to improve it 
  • Experience successfully creating embraced sales force tools and programs 
  • Experience providing marketing leadership to cross-functional new product development teams
  • Proven ability to direct the activities of project members, both inside and outside the organization, to ensure completion of multiple projects with varying deadlines and prioritization 
  • Experience developing and delivering branding and promotional campaigns that integrate customer insights and produce emotional brand connections 
  • Proven ability to translate strategic ideas and concepts into actionable plans 
  • Balance of qualitative and quantitative thinking 
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new marketing skills and select the best marketing approach for each market challenge 
  • Strong business leadership skills 
  • Extensive social media and website experience, including on-line marketing experience

The following capabilities and experiences are highly desired:

  • Acute care hospital experience, including the direct responsibility of launching innovative medical devices and supporting both upstream and downstream marketing objectives
  • Understanding of GPO and IDN networks
  • Advanced analytical skills 
  • Clinical experience in the field of wound care or pulmonary care
  • A high sense of creativity to drive new and impactful results
